Click 'Update engine and virus definitions.' Click 'Update Program.'
Click 'Scan Computer.' Click 'Full system scan.'
Click 'Results.' In the drop-down menu next to 'Apply this action for all' select 'Delete.'
Click 'Apply.' Close Avast! Anti-virus Free.

Download Avira AntiVir Personal. Install the software using the on-screen instructions.
Launch Avira AntiVir Personal. Click on 'Start update' located on the center right portion of the window. Click 'Close.'
Click 'Scan system now' located in the bottom right portion of the window. Allow the software to scan the computer for viruses.
Click 'Close' in the summary window. Click 'End.' Click the 'View' menu, then 'Administration' and then 'Quarantine.'
Highlight any detected viruses and click the 'Delete selected objects from quarantine' button. Close Avira AntiVir Personal.

Parboil the scallops in the boiling pot. This is done to remove any fishy smells or grit on the scallops. Parboiling involves first heating water to the boiling point. Drop in the scallops and allow them to boil until they are soft. Remove them and then run them under cold water for quick cooling.
Crack the egg and pour it into the mixing bowl. Whisk the egg. Add salt, self-rising flour and wine into the mix and whisk it again until the texture is smooth. This will serve as the batter.
Put the scallops in the bowl and coat them in the batter. For extra flavor, you can let them sit in the batter inside the fridge for 15 minutes. Meanwhile, heat the oil until it is 325 degrees F.
Drop the scallops into the oil when it reaches the optimum temperature. Allow them to fry until they are golden brown. You can turn the scallops in the oil intermittently to ensure an even coating. Once they are golden brown, remove them and place on paper towels for draining.
