How to Host a CrossIn Feburary 2016 27,

In Feburary 2016 27,
Teens can be notoriously absentminded when it comes to times and places, so provide plenty of reminders about the dinner. Simple one-page fliers, written by hand and giving directions to your house, are the first step; hand them out at a practice a few days before the dinner. Use large letters with bold print and a simple heading, such as, 'Team dinner on Thursday,' so the fliers are easily to read at a glance. Send tweets and online posts the day before and the day of the gathering to ensure everyone will attend.
Set the Stage
A simple banner that says 'Go Team' is the only decoration you need. Organize your space to accommodate groups of teens. Include a buffet setup on your kitchen counters if room allows and allocate some seating at your dining room table; if your kitchen is small, set the buffet on the dining table. In either case, place folding chairs and TV trays in small clusters around the room, not in straight lines. Designate a coffee table as an eating space for teens to sit around on the floor, and place large pillows on the floor around the table.
Give 'Em Carbs
Spaghetti, garlic bread and salad with assorted vegetables for runners to add themselves make up a traditional pre-meet dinner, with easy-to-serve brownies, cookies or cupcakes for dessert. Plan on about 1 pound of pasta for every five to six people, and provide both vegetarian and meat sauces with about 1/2 to 3/4 cup per serving. Lasagna or baked potatoes with chili for topping provide good alternatives to spaghetti. For drinks, serve lemonade, sports drinks and ice water with lemon slices.
Encourage Socializing
Instead of leading games or competitions, ask students to help with dinner preparations and with cleanup at the end of the dinner -- they'll talk to each other over the chopping board and at the stove. Provide low-key activities that encourage talking, including asking each team member to say what she likes most about the cross-country team, or providing a list of questions for each person to answer aloud, such as, 'Describe your most embarrassing moment,' or 'Name your favorite movie and explain why you like it.'

Cigar Home Parties for MenIn Feburary 2016 19,

In Feburary 2016 19,
Host a cigar-pairing party at your home. Provide foods and drinks that will complement the style of cigar you've selected for the night. Hard cheeses, fruit and dark chocolates are all said to complement the flavor of cigars. Serve drinks such as red wines, bourbon and scotch. Avoid any rich or creamy foods or drinks, as they will clash with the cigars. Set out the refreshments on a buffet table or scatter them on plates around the room where guys can sample them as they smoke.
Cuba
Host a Cuba-themed cigar party at your home. The country is known for its tobacco farming and cigar rolling, so make sure to include lots of the smokes (if you live in a country that allows their import). Continue the theme with a tropical Cuban feel, with palm tree decorations and exotic flowers. Encourage all the guys to wear a floral shirt to get in the spirit. Host the event next to a pool, if you have one. Set up plenty of lawn chairs outside where everyone can relax and enjoy their cigars.
Rolling
Hire a professional cigar roller to come to your home and teach everyone the art of cigar making. Many cigar rollers are available for private parties and will usually bring everything needed to create the smokes. Watch them roll each cigar from start-to-finish while also learning about the history of the indulgence as well as proper etiquette for smoking. After the show, taste the creation by smoking the cigars that were rolled in front of you.
Trading
Invite the guys over for a cigar-trading party. Each man probably has his own taste when it comes to cigars, so ask guests to bring enough of their favorite style to share with everyone. If people can't bring a lot of cigars, ask them to instead bring just one. Each man should share a little bit about why he likes that particular brand of cigar before trading it with others around the room. Not only will guests discover new types of cigars, but they'll also meet new people and enjoy socializing along the way.

How to Plan a Red Carpet EventIn Feburary 2016 13,

In Feburary 2016 13,
Decide on the purpose and theme of your event. Are you planning a party to provide entertainment, a charity or fund-raising event to raise money for a cause or are you celebrating a major milestone or accomplishment?
Develop a budget for your red carpet event. This will keep you on track as you come up with your guest list and select a venue, a caterer and décor.
Make a guest list. This will give you an idea of how many people will attend the event, which you will need to know when you make decisions about your party location and menu.
Visit 5 to 7 locations to find the perfect venue to host your red carpet event. Compare the capacities, the cost and the convenience or uniqueness of the locations, and consider the season for outdoor venues.
Search for vendors. You'll want to get price estimates and menu ideas from at least two different caterers. A red carpet event could include a buffet-style or a sit-down dinner. Decide whether you want to do an open bar or cash bar. Be sure to price appetizers, entrees, cocktails, non-alcoholic beverages and desserts. Find a local photographer to take pictures during your event. Contact a florist and select decorative flowers that complement your party theme.
Create your invitations. You can make your invites at home using a word processing program like Microsoft Word or a design program like Adobe Illustrator or Microsoft Publisher. If you'd rather buy your invitations, visit your local stationery stores and office supply stores to review your options. Be sure to inform guests of directions, date and time of the event, proper attire and instructions on how to RSVP. Send invitations to everyone on your guest list 6 to 8 weeks before the scheduled event.
Visit your local party supply store or superstore to pick up elegant items to decorate your venue. Candles and balloons are popular, but you may find more unusual decorations. Use your imagination.
Don't forget to rent or purchase a red carpet! Check your local party suppliers or do an online search to find sources. To give your event real Hollywood appeal, you may even consider purchasing a step and repeat wall, the large-scale banner printed with media logos that is hung along the red carpet at the venue entrance. You can have banners custom-made with your own party-themed logos.
When you have received all your RSVPs, follow up with your vendors and give them your final count of attendees.
Create an agenda for your event to keep you organized on the big day. Include a schedule of tasks that need to be done before the event, the start time, any special activities during the event, the end time and tasks for the clean-up period, if necessary.
