Open your computer's Internet browser and type “www.avast.com” into the address bar. Press “Enter” to navigate to the Avast Antivirus website.
Click “Products” to open the Avast product page. Click the “Download” link for the Avast Free Antivirus.
Select your download language from the drop-down menu and click “Download Now” to be directed to the download location. Click “Download Now” on the new page to begin the free Avast download. Click “Save” and choose a location to download the installation package.
Open the downloaded installation package on your computer. Click “Run” to start the installation process.
Choose your installation language from the drop-down menu of the installation screen. Click “Next.” Select whether or not you want to participate in the Avast user community and click “Next” again. Allow the installation to automatically run and complete its setup.
Click “Finish” once the installation is complete. The free version of Avast antivirus is installed and automatically runs on your computer.
